Do GoogleDocs Hire GoogleNurses?

Well okay, we are more than half way through your journey into techno-transformation. If you look back at all you have accomplished so far, you should be impressed with yourselves. . .or at least mildly pleased.

Tonight we will be grading PowerPoints using our collaborative rubric. . .please don't forget that you will need 3 copies of the rubric personalized with your name as the grader. We will also briefly discuss your NETS I collaborative narratives and you will share your group's work with another group for feedback. You should have finished Journal's 1-5 (don't forget that journal 5 is extra credit), PowerPoint, and requested feedback on TaskStream.

New asignments: Copyright, Wiki, and Journals 6-10.

What's left?

Inspiration
iMovie Software Proficiency
Google Earth
Emerging Technology
TaskStream/NETS narratives

Journal 6: Remember that journal 5 was extra credit, so even if you didn't do it, start with journal 6 (i.e., you won't have a journal 5). "Don't Feed the Trolls," by Karen Richardson. L&L, May 2008.

Today's Question: How many languages do you speak? If your answer is one, do you wish you were taught another language in school? Explain.

  1. I speak only English, at work I speak Spanish that nobody understands. I was taught another language in school, 3 years of Spanish in high school and four quarters in college.

  4. As of right now I only speak English. I plan on teaching myself Spanish beginning in the fall though. I took Spanish all through school... some in elementary, some in jr. high, all through high school, and some in college. Evidently it's pretty easy to get As in language classes and not retain a lick of the language... unfortunately.

  5. Unfortunately I only speak one language. I wish that I could speak Spanish. It is such a vital language to know living in Southern California. Hopefully one day I will be fluent in both English and Spanish.

  6. I am fluent in English and can do a mean southern accent :) Other than that, though...no other languages. It would be very helpful if I had learned Spanish, seeing as how I lived in Florida and now here, but oh well.

  8. I am fluent in English and Spanish. At one point I spoke passable Italian, but it's been a few years. I've also taken a little bit of French, which I can read far better than I can speak. I was lucky enough to have started learning Spanish when I was about 8 or 9, but I wish that it had been a part of my elementary school curriculum instead of a once-a-week type thing after school.

  11. I speak English as fluently as a native speaker can and can understand and speak some Spanish because of 5 years of instruction over the years. I also am fluent in Japanese food nouns...lol. Ok so it's not much, but what the hell.

  12. I only speak English. I took a lot of Spanish classes throughout the years, but I never really got fluent. I can understand bits and pieces, but not enough to carry on a conversation.

  17. I would say I speak one and a half languages. English is my native language and I speak some Spanish (my time in the restaurant industry helped me out with my Spanish).

  20. I only speak English now. I took Spanish when I was in middle school and high school, however...if you don't use it you loose it. I can still speak Spanish un poco. My sister in law is Brazilian and my niece speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese. Her favorite language to speak is Portuguese, so I want to learn to speak that fairly well.

  23. I had to delete my other post because there were typos and I'm anal-retentive. =)

I only speak English fluently, but I know some Spanish. I took three years of Spanish in high school, and my husband speaks Spanish, but I've forgotten a lot of it. I think if my husband spoke Spanish at home I would pick up a lot more of it, but he doesn't want to hear me asking "What does thaaaat mean?" 24/7. =) I do wish I was taught another language when I was younger. It would be really helpful, living in Southern California, if I knew Spanish fluently. When we have kids we're definitely planning on speaking both English and Spanish at home so he/she will learn both languages.

  24. I speak English and very elementary Spanish. I definitely wish I had been taught another language when I was younger, but not necessarily Spanish. I would have liked to learn any of the Italic languages, such as Latin or Greek, since it probably would have helped in other subjects.

  25. I only speak English fluently. I took Spanish in junior high and high school an college, but I still don't speak it fluently. I can hold a basic conversation & understand a lot. I would have loved to be taught a second language when I was growing up.

  26. I have taken Spanish, French, Italian and Latin but I can still only speak English. I don't seem to have the head for other languages; I think that the only way that I could learn was through complete need and immersion!

  27. I speak only English fluently and with taking Spanish for 2 years in college I can barely carry a conversation in Spanish. It would have helped to learn a second language earlier in life.

  28. Regretfully I only speak one language. I did try to learn French in HS and also American Sign Language in college but have forgotten most of both. Living in California, I wish that I had learned to speak Spanish. I know the importance of speaking conversational Spanish and plan on learning a little bit for when I teach. It is pretty much a (unofficial) requirement to know Spanish.
